Millions Set Aside to Expand Meat Processing
The Oregon Department of Agriculture opened the application process for the Oregon Meat Processing Infrastructure and Capacity Building Grant. Applications for up to $500,000 in grant awards closes on March 23, 2022.
Oregon Seed Research Institute Showcases Research Farm
A 40-acre farm near Lebanon, Oregon is being used by the Oregon Seed Research Institute to conduct trials. The institute was formed by the state’s seed industry.

Snowpack Recedes in Washington
According to Pacific Northwest Ag Network, statewide snowpack in much of Washington is at or near the average for this time of year. However, experts warn January snow may not be adequate to add to or maintain snowpack into early spring.
OSU Gives Advice on Clay Soil
Oregon State University Extension Services has released information and advice about clay soil in the region. Included in the research released in early February, is a history of what makes clay soil and how it has impacted agriculture over the centuries.

OSU Offers Online Land Steward Program
In an effort to help landowners get more from their investment, the Land Steward Program from Oregon State University Extension Service is now available online, in addition to community classes, land tours, and workshops. The Zoom classes are designed to appeal to new owners of woodlands, pastures, and small farms.
